Sarah J. Maas has been ever elusive about any news relating to new ACOTAR books. It was not until March 2026 when she emerged from her writing cave to go on Call Her Daddy podcast and drop a bomb of news...We are getting TWO new books within a three month period.
On August 17, the news just got better because not only do we have release dates but also titles and cover art.
Releasing October 27th: A Court of Splintered Harmony

"What was broken will be remade. Deep in the heart of the continent, Koschei the Deathless is stirring. Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for a millenia, the insidious threat of his return now spreads across the fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was onec theirs: the human lands. thhe Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked. But with Prythian still piecing itself together the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day. To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the Night Court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths. The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable. But to defeat Koschei's creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and ressurect their former alliances. To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them."
Releasing January 12th: A Court of Forgotten Melody

"What was lost will be reclaimed. Prythian might never be the same again. Traditional alliances are crumbling, and no amount of diplomacy seems sufficient to repair them. With the continued threat of Koschei the Deathless on the horizon, a united front is crucial - and farther out of reach than it has ever been before. Bonds will be tested. Power will shift. And old enemies will emerge from nightmares of the past. As the Night Court's Inner Circle disperses far and wide, desperate for any advantage against Koschei and his mighty allies, peace hangs by a fragile thread. But hope can be spun from the darkest of shadows, and the Night Court has its own part to play in the looming crescendo."
Both books will span the length of three movements entitled "The Valkyrie Cycle". In ACOSF, we saw the female warriors known as the Valkyrie reborn in Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie. This leads me to believe we will absolutely see more of the Valkyrie and their journeys, which has been my favorite story in all of the ACOTAR books. I will forever be a Nesta girlie.
Prior to this announcement, readers speculated the next book would be Elain's book. I do believe we will get a lot more Elain, but Nesta's story is far from over. We got three books for Feyre. Why would Nesta only get one? We will probably get Elain and Nesta together in these books.
What Could the Covers Mean?
A Court of Splintered Harmony features a fire with bones among the kindling and a fire that forms into a beast face. Immediately, the bones indicate the Bone Carver to me. He is one of Koschei's siblings, and since he is the big bad in these next two books it's not out of the realm of possibility that we will get more of the Bone Carver.
A Court of Forgotten Melody features a spider with an eight-pointed star on it's body weaving a web. To me, this indicates the Weaver. As another sibling of Koschei, Stryga is commonly seen weaving in her cottage.
Considering in the battle against Hybern they both "died" it will be interesting to see their return. However, if they are Koschei the Deathless' siblings can they really die? Could they possibly have been transported to other realms?
Insane Crossover Possibility!
If you have not read the Throne of Glass or Crescent City series' - first of all, where have you been? - NOW IS THE TIME. CRUNCH TIME.
House of Flame and Shadow had a crazy crossover with Crescent City and ACOTAR. Bryce made her way to Prythian and discovered the Asteri in her world were also the Daglan in ancient Prythian. She ends up giving her star sword - that speaks to Azriel's dagger - to Nesta to figure out what the eight-pointed star tattooed on her back means and why it ended up on her.
Considering the covers, there is actually a HUGE possibility there will be a crossover with Throne of Glass. The Bone Carver - which I think is associated with A Court of Splintered Harmony - could be the Truth God or Sin Eater in Erilea. There is a temple to this god that is solely made of bones carved with confessions. The way the Bone Carver works is if you want information, you need to give up a truth of your own. Coincidences in SJM's writing rarely happen.
The spider on the cover of A Court of Forgotten Melody could indicate the stygian spiders in Erilea that world walked with Queen Maeve - who was revealed to be a Valg - as her handmaidens. Bryce uncovered Vesperus in HOFAS who was described incredibly simlarly to Maeve. Because there are rarely coincidences in SJM's writing, we can imply that the Valg might also be the Daglan in Prythian who might also be the Asteri in Crescent City.
I know. I feel as insane as I sound with all these theories.
Honestly, I know there will be romance and smut, but I think in these books I am more here for the plot than the romance. I could not care less who Elain ends up with as long as she is happy, but honestly she is more than that. I am interested more to see how her seer powers will come into play.
All in all, I am BUZZING about this news and cannot wait to hole up in my room reading to my heart's content. Let me know yupr thoughts and theories! I need to chat with people about it.
