The Her Universe Fashion Show is always my most anticipated event at San Diego Comic Con. This year Gigi and I had the opportunity to attend again, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the talent to the vibes and atmosphere.
The stage was set. A platform in the center of the room ready to display the designers' months and months of hard work. The runway shot out of all sides creating a unique visual experience.

Ashley Eckstein, the founder of Her Universe, co-hosted the show with her best friend, Michael James Scott. The iconic duo served up DC fierceness in Green Lantern inspired couture outfits designed by Andrew MacClaine with custom-cut metal work by Stephen Giumenta.
For a little background, the Her Universe Fashion Show is the annual event put on at San Diego Comic Con. Each year there is a crop of designers who compete to win the grand prize of $2,000 AND the opportunity to design an exclusive fashion collection with Her Universe.

The show opened with a display of live art as we watched Ashley Ecksteins poncho and cape get painted right in front of us before Michael James Scott an incredible Broadway and now TV star broke out his own rendition of “I Need a Hero”.
It was dramatic and over the top just the way I like it!
Giant fans blew as Ashley Eckstein simulated flying. Her giant runway long cape trailing behind her. It was truly an awe-inspiring scene.

The designers came out one by one modeling their own designs which I thought was really cool. They made an outfit to fit their own bodies instead of someone else’s. One of my favorite aspects of the show is that before each group they show each designer’s intro video. Each one explaining who they are, what their design is and how they made it. My jaw was on the floor the entire time and at some point I felt the spirit of Owen Wilson inside me bc all I could say was “Wow”. No other words. Just that. I could not find other words to describe the sheer talent on that stage.

After each designer made their pass, it was time for the Judges to deliberate. While they deliberated, Ashley and Michael opened the runway to the attendees. Costumed or not they strutted their stuff. I made my walk down as Supergirl and have never felt more hyped up. The crowd was so kind. Ashley and Michael each pulled someone out of the crowd to have a chat. I was literally peeing my pants when Ashley made eye contact with me. She walked over and to my very big surprise, she remembered meeting me before, so that just made me feel good. Maybe she says that to everyone, but at that moment I chose to believe she was genuine.
The judges came out and announced the Judge’s Winner and Audience Winner who would collaborate on a fashion line for Her Universe. All of the contestants did amazing and I did not envy the judges that had to make the final decision.
Sean Quinn in a Harley-inspired outfit won the Judges’ vote.

Ren WIlkinson in a beast boy-inspired outfit won over the audience vote.

This year there was a third category which was “Fan Spotlight”. Attendees were able to vote at the Her Universe Booth inside the con for their favorite design.
Maggie Walker in a Starfire-inspired design won the fans over. For good reason it was a beautiful design.

All in all guys, this experience was nothing short of amazing. I am literally still buzzing from it and I cannot wait for next year. Thank you guys for all of your support. We legitimately could not do this without you!
