Series 1: San Antonio to San Diego Comic Con 2026

Its 6am central time, Bay-max (our road trip vehicle) is fully packed with camera gear, enough clothes to last a week, and of course the road trip essentials consisting of water, energy drinks, and salty snacks. We head out ready to explore the open road and take in the sights of desert plains and mountains in the distance.
First stop on the map is picking up Gigi Ford. As we turn on her main street we see flashing lights and cones. The street is completely blocked off. There's an accident, a motorcycle turned on its side. Emergency responders already on the scene. We get detoured and have to take the side streets. Hoping everyone is fine we continue on. As we pull up in front of Gigis home she's already standing there, luggage in tow cute pink backpack (covered in Milky tomato stickers) hanging on her shoulder. Eager smile on her face she puts her luggage in the back and hops in. Next stop is HGII the opposite direction from our main destination. We avoid that horrific SA morning traffic and make great timing. We pull up and there he is luggage in tow and bags in hand. He puts all but 1 bag in the back and claims his seat in the back right behind the driver seat. This is now his spot for the remainder of the trip. As he gets comfy he opens up that one bag he kept and low and behold he pulls out homemade breakfast tacos. He even remembered to bring some ketchup for Juans tacos (he eats ketchup on almost everything). We fill our belly and are now ready for the first leg of our 8ish hours long trip. Juan our driver has his energy drink filled, destination set on maps, and podcast loaded up to play. Belinda sitting as passenger princess with her Snoopy blanket on her lap head phones fully charged and tiktok up ready to fill her time. Gigi sits behind the passenger seat ready to see the road sights and chat it up the whole way. HGIII ready to enjoy the drive and excited for all the adventures that await.
Drives through TX are always long seems like it will take days but its only been a few hours. We finally leave TX past right through New Mexico and enter into Arizona, and there it is a big road sign and billboards "The Thing" up ahead. Another sign 10 miles to "The Thing". We drive past now we are just a few exits away from "The Thing. The billboards are working Gigi curiosity takes the better of her and she speaks up, "okay can we make a stop I need to know what The Thing is?". After driving hours a stop at a rest area sounds perfect we can all use a nice leg stretch, a quick walk, and of course the rest room. We stop walk up to what looks like a souvenir shop Gigi walks in "where is it?" Immediately an employee looks up points to the back and says "all the way to the back". We go straight for it and right at the entrance is a guy "$5 entry ticket!" He says. Gigi with no hesitation "well im finding out" and gets her ticket. As she walks through The Thing exhibit the 3 of us walk and browse everything this little shop offers. Its a nice shop containing statues, jewelry, and even sells fireworks. Gigi is out now and looks more confused then before she walked in.

Back on the road we go ready to drive a few more hours to our resting spot, but first we need another tank of gas. Perfect time to stop get new snacks, potty breaks, and yet another stretch of our legs. Gigi and I wait by the door for the guys to finish up their purchase and we hear Juan at the register "what? well thats okay, hope you have a good day" what the heck was that about. He walks right up with a tray containing 1 corn dog the last one from the glass deli case. Tray corn dogs come in 2s someone stole one of his corn dogs. He doesnt care much even though he was charged for 2 he eats his 1 corn dog and we continue on. Its getting late we are all hungry and about ready to stop for the night. Before we can get to our hotel we need food a nice meal. Somewhere we can get off so what better place them Tombstone Arizona. Dusty roads, old building, a place filled with History and stories. HGII and Gigis first time visiting so of course we have to walk around. Gigi picks up a a new vocal stim "Im your Huckleberry" she repeats overs and overs as we walk by all the sights. As we explore storm clouds start looming "There's a storm a brewing" I pronounce we better get moving before we get stuck in a storm. Right before heading to a spot to eat we have to take advantage of the scenery and fill a few tiktoks HGIII ready with the sound loaded films his tiktok with Gigi as Juan films.
Big Nose Kate's its the spot we stop to eat we walk in the saloon style doors and bam History. Inside there are wooden tables, waitresses wearing old western attire, and few people sitting enjoying their meals. We take a seat and start looking though the menu that looks like a newspaper style menu. It contains info about Big nose Kate and some story of the history. We enjoy a nice meals and as we are about ready to go the waitress offers to take our photo. Not just any photo but they have costumes and props! We'll madam you just offered that to the right group. We excitedly get dressed up take some photos, get behind the bar film some tiktoks, take more photos. It was a blast a memory you can see on tiktok (visit HGIII or Gigis page). Last stop for the night we stop at Tombstone the Lookout Lodge. Staff remember Juan from our last stop when we enjoyed LA Anime. Fire pit can't be started tonight due to the storm but we get to our room just in time.
Morning is here and time to pack up and get the second leg of this trip, last stop SDCC! Long roads, desert lands, and hills is what we past till we reach rocky hills. We pass a sign that perks us all up Rams! There maybe rams in the area. The next hour maybe more is us glued to the windows looking like we are in a where's Waldo book ram edition. Gigi is belting out her best ram expressions. Belinda giving personality and names to these unseen rams we have yet to run into. Did we see any rams no, no we did not. However we are a little early and get to make a stop before we get to our hotels.

We make a final stop Sunset Cliffs. We make it at the perfect time the sun is about to set and we get to view the beautiful orange, purple, some pinks right above the oceans horizon. Surfers wading in the water taking in the view, other spectators sitting along the cliff side just a pause in time, it's Beautiful.
